2nd Award Bar to the British Military Medal.

Instituted in 1916 by George V , the M.M. was awarded to enlisted men and NCOs throughout in recognition of gallantry on the field of battle. Subsequent awards of the Military Medal were recognized by the addition of a silver bar to the ribbon of the original award.

This white metal bar has a slide fitting that enables it to be easily slipped over the ribbon of the award.
