BRITISH WW1 'OLD CONTEMPTIBLES BRONZE LAPEL PIN

This small lapel badge is die struck in bronze. The reverse is marked with maker's mark and stamped with official issue number. It is the official insignia of the Old Contemptibles Association which was founded by Capt J.P. Danny of the Royal Artillery on June 25th 1925 and members were survivors of the First British Expeditionary Force of 1914. Kaiser Wilhelm 2nd had issued an order on 19 August 1914 to "walk over General French's contemptible little army". Hence, in later years, the survivors of the regular army dubbed themselves "The Old Contemptibles". Dimensions 30x 23mm.

We have a number of these from a stock of un-issued examples. The one illustrated is representative of condition. They all have different numbers that appear to be from a sequenced batch as many of the numbers are consecutive, also the numbers to not have the usual suffix letter. Because of this we are selling these badges as TAILORS COPIES- NOT as original issued items that can be assigned to a partcular recipient. PLEASE NOTE THIS CAREFULLY

Please note also that You will NOT receive the actual badge illustrated.
