Instituted- 15th May 1944 by Admiral Doenitz. Awards were made based on the number of sorties a crew undertook against the enemy, or to crewmembers who demonstrated personal bravery. Worn on the left breast.
This example originates from one of the most notable manufacturers of this award. The pin is the correct 'fluted' pin with extruded hinge often found on U Boat bars. The bar has a semi matt silver plated finish. Complete with full makers name on reverse in relief.
