GUERRILLA or ANTI PARTISAN WARFARE BADGE - FIRST TYPE- SILVER (BANDENKAMPFABZEICHEN). ORIGINAL QUALITY.
Awarded after 50 combat days in anti partisan operations. A combat day being defined as one during which the candidate for the award had taken part in man against man close combat with the enemy. The Guerilla Warfare badge replaced the Close Combat Bar for those engaged in anti partisan warfare. A highly emotive and controversial award as a result of its association with the uncompromising and bloody business of anti partisan warfare.
This variation of the Guerrilla Warfare Badge is of exceptionally high quality. The badge is die struck in bronze and is extremely heavy. The reverse is flat and the hydra part of the design is finely pierced in three areas. The pin is also very high quality being the flat stamped type. Finished in heavy silver plate and with very light tarnishing overall. Makers Mark- B & N L Berg and Nolte Luedenscheid.
