Awarded during WW1 to qualified Imperial German Pilots who were no longer in active service. Typically aviators who were no longer able to fly as a result of wounds or injuries sustained in combat. This fine example quality example made from a high quality alloy containing a significant percentage of real silver. The reverse is marked with the makers mark of Paul Meybauer- one of the leading manufactuerers of Imperial German awards and the award is fitted with the distinctive Meybauer style pin.
