A very nice quality example of the metal breast insignia worn by members of these elite units, formed in the middle years of WW1. Stormtroopers (in German Sturmtruppen) were specialist soldiers trained to fight with "infiltration tactics". This example is solid cast bronze. The reverse is marked 'GAHR.MUNCHEN' and is fitted with a typical early style flat pin.
