WW2 USAF B29 Hiroshima Atomic Bomb 509th Bomb Group. Memorabillia Set


This interesting grouping of reproduction memorabillia relating to the Atomic Bomb dropped on Hiroshima in August 1945, consists of the following 5 items:

Copies of the printed War Department orders authorising the deployment of the nuclear bomb (2 sheets)

These authentic looking re-prints of the two orders are printed on authentic looking simulated aged paper. Each of the two sheets measures 30cm x 21.5cm.

WWII Manhattan Project Cloth Sleeve Patch WWII Style with raw edge

This insignia was worn on the sleeve by personnel involved in the Manhattan Nuclear Bomb project at Los Alamos, New Mexico. This is a full Size WWII style patch. Fully embroidered on old machines in full colour with the typical early WW2 raw un-merrowed edge. Embroidered using the correct dense Schiffli style stitching with the typical early WW2 raw un-merrowed edge. This patch measures 62mm x 46mm.

WWII U.S.A.F. 509th C.G. 58th Wing ENOLA GAY Nuclear Bomber cloth patch

This patch was worn on the flying jackets or overalls by members of the 509 Composite Group of the 58th Wing.

This unit was activated in December 1944 and was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Paul W. Tibbets. The famous B29 Superfortress, also commanded by Tibbets, dropped the first nuclear bomb on Hiroshima on the 6th August 1945.

This specific version of the patch was adopted after the dropping of the nuclear bomb. This large patch is embroidered in cream, red and golden yellow cotton on blue drill.

Excellent, almost new condition. This item measures 117mm in diameter (or 4.5" in diameter).

WWII American United States U.S Army Air Corps or U.S. Air Force sleeve patch

WW2 style with raw edge.

This is a full Size WWII style United States U.S. Airforce/ Air Corps patch. Fully embroidered on old machines in full colour with the typical early WW2 raw un-merrowed edge. Embroidered using the correct dense Schiffli style stitching with the typical early WW2 raw un-merrowed edge.

This fine quality patch measures 2.5" or 62mm in diameter.
