WWII USAF B-17 Flying Fortress Bomber Lucky Bastard Certificate.

This reproduction of the Lucky Bastard Certificate is printed in black on nice quality heavy faux parchment. The certificate measures 280mm x 215 mm The recipients details are left blank.

The Lucky Bastard Club was an informal club of WWII Bomber Crew members from the 8th Airforce who completed a tour of duty (typically 25-30 missions). These individuals managed to sucessfully return to their bases after their bombing missions. They were considered 'lucky' because of their managing to get back to base with an undamaged plane. They often received certificates, a fly over and an honoury dinner for the crew. They were treated with high respect by their fellow airman. Club members were allowed special spots in mess halls.

This is a full Size WWII style United States Air Force / Air Corps patch. Fully embroidered on old machines in full colour with the typical early WW2 raw un-merrowed edge. Embroidered using the correct dense Schiffli style stitching with the typical early WW2 raw un-merrowed edge.

This fine quality patch measures 2.5" or 62mm in diameter.
