German Order Breast Cross.

The German Order (Deutscher Orden) was the most important award that the Nazi Party could bestow on an individual for duties of the highest order to the state and party. Adolf Hitler viewed this award as his personal decoration. This award was first made posthumously to Reichsminister Fritz Todt at his funeral in February 1942. A second posthumous award of the German Order was given to SS-Obergruppenführer Reinhard Heydrich later that year. It was unofficially known as the Death Order as it was almost always awarded posthumously. There were in all eleven confirmed recipients of this award between 1942 and 1945.
The example offered is the breast pin back version of the award. The front is finished in black cold enamel with a facsimile of the Golden Party Badge in the centre- enameled in red, white and black. The award is finished in gold plate. It is fitted with a nice flat pin on the reverse.
