U.S. Vietnam War Mekong River Boat Patrol cloth patch

£4.95

U.S. Vietnam War River Boat Patrol F, Fight or Go For Your Gun - PBR crewman M-3 cannon cloth patch.

Mekong Delta Riverine Patrol, Recon patrol as featured in APOCALYPSE NOW.

Patrol Boat, Riverine, or PBRs were small rigid boats used in the Vietnam War. They were deployed in a force that grew to 250 boats, the most common craft in the River Patrol Force Task Force 16 and were used to stop and search river traffic, in an attempt to disrupt weapons shipments, in areas such as the Mekong Delta, South China Sea, Saigon, Gulf of Thailand, to the Cambodia Border and beyond. In this role, they frequently became involved in firefights with enemy soldiers on boats and on the shore, were used to insert and extract Navy teams, and were employed by the U.S. Army's 458th Sea Tigers. Some boats were fitted with the M-3 Cannon.
In the movie 'APOCALYPSE NOW', Captain Willard is ferried on his mission in such a vessel.

This patch, worn by crews of PBRs, is embroidered in multi coloured cottons on a cream cotton twill with a raw edge, typical of these sorts of patches.
In very good condition with just a little staining and discolouration.

The patch measures 82 x 66mm
