1914 Iron Cross 1st Class. VAULTED. Antique silvered finish.
The most famous of all WWI Imperial German medals and decorations.
The Iron Cross was established by King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia on 17th March 1813 during the Napoleonic Wars. It was re established in 1870 and subsequently in 1914 upon the outbreak of WW1.
This vaulted or bowed version of the Iron Cross was typically purchased privately by officers. This example of the 1st Class cross is die struck in one piece. It has a black painted centre and a pleasing antique silvered finish. Reverse is fitted with a flat pin.
The Imperial German WW1 gallantry decorations and military campaign medals offered by The Regalia Specialist are full size awards being die struck and carefully finished as closely as possible to original specifications.
