The most famous of all WWI Imperial German medals and decorations.

The Iron Cross was established by King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia on 17th March 1813 during the Napoleonic Wars. It was re established in 1870 and subsequently in 1914 upon the outbreak of WW1.

This example of the 1914 1st Class cross is die struck in one piece. It has a black painted centre and a pleasing antique silvered finish. The reverse is fitted with a flat pin.
