Originally instituted in November 1933 by Ernst Roehm and sanctioned by Hitler in 1935, the Sturmabteilung Sports Badge was awarded in three classes as a recognition of proficiency in sports and military sports exercises and was awarded to members of both the S.A. and S.S.

This cloth example is woven in brown on white silk and was worn on the white sports singlet.

From a quantity of insignia purchased in Germany during the 1980's.
