This incredible Ailager branded Beobachtungs-Uhr (literally 'Observers Watch') timepiece is modeled on the iconic watches used by aircrews of the Luftwaffe, especially bomber crews, from 1935 when they were first conceived as a reliable wristwatch with an unambiguous dial for the fledgling Luftwaffe. With a larger case and dial than was standard at the time and accuracy so valuable the watches were signed in and out for each mission, the B-uhr is both a wearable piece of aviation history and a practical modern watch.

When looking at a B-Uhren watch the most striking element is the large case and clean dial. The simple swapping of hour and minute markings from the outer edge to the centre and second markings to the outer edge made it easier for Navigators to count those critical minutes and seconds to target, guided by the large silver hands with luminous paint on the minutes and hour hands. Combined with the luminous dots in the center of the dial, reading the watch in dim conditions remains easy. These rechargeable luminous markings use safer modern paint without radioactive elements meaning, unlike some watches from the period they will need recharging under light after between 20 and 30 minutes of illumination.The dial is protected by a crystal clear cut glass domed lens.

Worn with bulky bomber jackets and flight suits, the B-Uhr features an oversized 7mm textured winder to let you stay on schedule. The alloy matte finish 42mm case sets off the black face and strap perfectly, the function-led design echoed on the double riveted crazy horse leather strap. The underside of the watch shows yet more authentic recreation of original details, with 'Echt Leder' and 'Ailager' stamps on the strap as well as a fully engraved case back with type, production number, and so on. Another modernization here is the movement of these engravings from the inside of the case back to the outside, allowing you to experience more of the details of an original while keeping the overall look and impact of the piece.
