The 'Bandenkampfabzeichen' was created in three grades Bronze, Silver and Gold at the end of January 1944, in response to the increasing partisan activity in the occupied areas of eastern and southern Europe. It was awarded to all branches of the armed forces it was specifically designated as a Waffen S.S. and Police award. It is certainly one of the most sought after German badges because of its striking symbolic design and S.S. associations.
The version offered is the Bronze grade. The detail on this example is remarkable and virtually every scale of the snakes is visible. It really is a striking example of the die sinkers art. The badge has a very attractive bronze patinated finish. The centre is hand pierced and the reverse is 'semi solid' and follows the contours of the obverse but without the detailing. This is typical of the 2nd model of the Anti Partisan award. This example is fitted with a flat pin and has an extruded hinge. One of the nicest badges that we have offered. Dimensions 50 x 60mm.
