GENUINE WW2 Model U.S. Army Air Force Type G1 Airspeed computer (dtd 1951).
An original WW2 model airspeed computer dating from JUST AFTER WW2. These computers were used to calculate the true airspeed of flight by pilots flying in combat. They were ubiquitous in WWII aircraft that included a navigator crew member, such as the B-17 Flying Fortress and B-24 Liberator.
This example was made by Crowe MFG Company and has the specification number 27367. This a new old stock unit packaged for long-term storage post WWII. Although it has been stockpiled in a non-climate controlled hanger for close to 65 years, and the packaging reflects this, the contents are pristine. Measures approximately 20cm diameter.
