American WW2 U.S. Army Air Corps 8th Airforce Bloody 100th Bomb Group Cloth Patch.

This large patch measuring 117mm in diameter (or 4.5" in diameter) was worn on the flying jacket by members of this very famous Airforce Unit. It is embroidered in multi coloured cotton on pale grey/blue cloth. It is in good condition with some fading and staining to the felt. It is not an original WWII patch, but a really excellent high quality copy.

'The Mighty Eighth' served in the European Theatre of WW2 of operations primarily the night bombing of Germany. 'The Bloody 100th Bombardment Group' was probably the most famous Army Air Corps unit of WWII.

This unit was also the subject of the 1949 movie 'The Twelve O'clock High'. It will also be the subject of the upcoming TV series 'Masters of the Air'.

A really nice example of this extremely attractive and sought after patch.
