U.S. Vietnam War Special Forces 'How's That Grab Ya?' CIA Black Ops Phoenix Program Vietcong Capture Unit patch

This colourful and attractive patch is embroidered in red, green and black on yellow cotton drill. It measures 102mm in diameter.


Operation Phoenix became official in 1968 however existed for years before that - Operation Phoenix was instigated by the CIA with an aim to, 'destabalise, neutralise, capture and kill' members of an organisation the CIA called the VCI (Viet Cong Infrastructure ) - The program was designed to disrupt any civilian activity that supported the VC south of the DMZ - this included people that supplied guides, foods, storage dumps, people who helped with conscription to the VC. The Central Intelligence Agency turned the Operation over to the US Army and the ARN in 1968 and continued to operate until 1972 - Not many of these patches were made - the patches was assigned to US and RV soldiers working on Operation Phoenix. Also called the Phoenix Program.
