WW2 German Free India AZAD HIND indian volunteers silver grade medal award with swords
This silvered medal measures 36mm in diameter. It has a pleasing tarnished finish and is supplied with a length of ribbon. Original WW2 examples often sell for hundreds of pounds but official replacements of these medals were made throughout the 1950s 60s and 70s in Austria, on the original machines, for sale to the original Indian recipients.
There are also some nice Chinese made copies of these medals on the market. We have compared ours with these and there is a difference in the weight with the examples we have weighing in at 34 gms as opposed to 25gms for the Chinese copies.
However as an original WW2 issue medal this is a very rare item indeed, worth over £500. We are selling ours as a high quality re issue.
