Special Air Service (S.A.S.) embroidered cloth beret badge.
The Special Air Service began its existence as a commando unit operating in the north African desert during WWII. It has subsequently evolved into one of the most elite special force units in the world, specializing in anti terrorist and counter insurgency operations.
This insignia is embroidered in cotton on dark blue wool. It is worn on the distinctive sand coloured beret of the S.A.S.
