R.N.A.S. Airship Section Officers cap badge in real silver.
By the outbreak of the First World War in August 1914, the RNAS had ninety-three aircraft, six airships, two balloons and seven hundred and twenty-seven personnel. The Navy maintained twelve airship stations around the coast of Britain. On 1 August 1915 the Royal Naval Air Service officially came under the control of the Royal Navy.
This insignia was worn on the peaked cap by officers of the R.N.A.S. Airship section.
This badge is made from solid unmarked silver with a patinated finish, . It is not hallmarked so one can only assume it is an older piece but probably not original to WW1.
This badge is difficult to obtain even as a copy.
