This Vichy version of the famous Croix de Guerre was established by Marshall petain subsequent to the Fall of France. On the special 'Etat Francais' version, the Head of the Republic normally found on the regular versions of the Croix de Guerre is replaced with the double headed axe symbol of Vichy France.
