German Horsemans Badge in Bronze HIGHEST QUALITY.
This award was instituted in 1930 and was subsequently sanctioned as a National award by Adolf Hitler. It was awarded in recognition of success in horse racing and show jumping events or for other outstanding equestrian achievement. There were three grades- Bronze, Silver and Gold. This award was bestowed, notably, on REINHARD HEYDRICH and he can be seen wearing it on his uniform in the many photographs taken of him. The version offered is die stuck in solid bronze and finished with a pleasing patinated finish. The reverse bears the maker's mark 'L. CHR LAUER NURNBERG-BERLIN'. It is fitted with the correct straight flat pin used by Lauer on these badges. An attractive and rarely seen badge. Dimensions 43 x 52mm.
